Mardi Gras

The Season of Mardi Gras begins with Twelfth Night in January (January 7, 2012) and ends at midnight on Fat Tuesday (February 21, 2012) the day before Ash Wednesday.  The days and nights in between these dates are filled with parties, bals and parades.  It is truly an exciting time in Northwest Louisiana.  In addition to offering entertainment for every member of the family, the area krewes’ activities boost tourism and the economy for Shreveport/Bossier.

The center of Krewe de les Femmes Mystique’s season is our annual black tie bal, a fabulous party where our Royalty are presented.  Throughout the season, les Femmes royalty participate in several bals and parades in the area.  Les Femmes members get their chance to toss beads to the crowds while riding a float in the Highland Parade.

The 2011-2012 Royal Court was announced Saturday, September 10, 2011.  Leading the Krewe is Captain Elizabeth Teeters.  Janice Sibley is Queen XIII and her Ladies are Lady of Art, Sara Gremillion Coleman; Lady of Love, Tammy Russell; Lady of Music, Kathryn Moore.  Two special Honorary Ladies are also on the Court, Helen Black, repesenting SB Squared and Simone Hennessee of Providence House.

Mark your calendars for our Grand Bal XIII, “Superstitions,” to be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at DiamondJacks, Bossier City, LA.   See the invitation below for more information.
